Wish [My Sore Throat] Was [Not] Here

So I’ve had a lingering sore throat since spring break (2 weeks ago). It has been keeping me from recording the vocals for “Beauty,” a song I’m collaborating on with totally awesome band Tryad. It’s totally lame.

Well, last night I basically said, “Screw you, sore throat!” and went over to the music lab to record some stuff anyway.

Wish You Were Here

The keyboard bits are a bit arhythmic and unpolished, and the vocals sound like they were sung by someone with a bit of a sore throat. (Funny how that works.) But I don’t care.

PREVED!

Speaking of toothpaste for dinner, Drew has been hosting a lovely LiveJournal picture generator for a while now. If you haven’t seen it yet, the site displays the last X number pictures uploaded onto LiveJournal. As such, it’s a reasonably accurate dowsing rod for the Internet. A decent quantity of porn, furries, manga, and emo kids scrolls by, so the site’s definitely not safe for work. And yet, it’s…fascinating.

There’s been a meme going around the Russian LiveJournals for the last couple months. It’s started with this picture (excerpt, I can’t find the original but it’s NSFW), then moved on to various parodies and captions.

What does “PREVED!” mean? We asked a friend who spoke Russian, but he didn’t know. Must be slang of some sort. I doubt it really matters what it means, though. It’s already become a bit of an inside joke here. And it’s not like American memes make any more sense.

Anyway, the LJ picture generator is pretty awesome. And addictive. It’s amazing how much time one can spend refreshing every couple minutes and being horrified with humanity.

:)

My friend Maddalena just got a shiny new website for her art and photography: ENJOY THINGS! The art’s been compared to explodingdog, toothpaste for dinner, or Perry Bible Fellowship. The photography… I don’t know anything about photography, so I’ll just say it’s black and white and really cool. Check it out.
